The annual Puffin/Nation Student Journalism Conference creates opportunities for student journalists to engage with and learn from their peers, as well as some of the most well-respected, leading journalists in the field. Featuring workshops, panel discussions, break-out sessions, film screenings, and receptions, the Student Journalism Conference is a transformative opportunity for learning, exchanging ideas, and networking, as well as a chance to connect with editors and writers from The Nation.
The annual day-long conference is produced by The Nation and is attended by approximately 150 young writers and emerging journalists selected from a competitive pool of applicants. The diverse group includes matriculating undergraduate and graduate students from colleges and universities across the country, as well as college-age writers not currently enrolled in an academic program.
Past speakers have included Nation stalwarts Katrina vanden Heuvel, Dave Zirin, and Elie Mystal along with a range of award-winning journalists including Melissa Harris-Perry, Ari Berman, Sarah Stillman, Kai Wright, Liliana Segura, Jane Mayer, and Chris Hayes.
The 2022 conference took place on March 4. A recording of the conference sessions is available below. Thank you to the Puffin Foundation for their generous support that makes this conference possible.
