A Life in Kingsbridge

By Quinn Dwyer

By Emily Batista

In New York lies Kingsbridge, a neighborhood in the Bronx often reduced to stereotypes of crime and struggle. However, it’s more than that–it contains life where beauty is often overlooked. To paint a picture, Kingsbridge holds vibrant artistry, both man-made and natural.

Kingsbridge, Bronx, New York. “Whose Bronx? Our Bronx.”

This mural acts as a voice showing that our community is more than the stereotypes placed on it.

Washington Walk, Bronx, New York. Even small things, trees growing or the shadows cast over the walk, life blooms in the Bronx silently but loudly.

Washington Walk, Bronx, New York. Grand Ave, Bronx, New York. Between the buildings and street signs, there are still moments of calm.

Trees in bloom…

…or maybe just a quiet bench…

…you’ll see that beauty lives here, too…

…not just in parks and murals, but in everyday life.
