Vehicles In Bangladesh

By Quinn Dwyer

By Nazeeha Ahmed

For both its densely populated cities and humid tropical climate, Bangladesh is a country that has some unique ways of getting around. Western gadgets, such as cars or motors aren’t affordable for the average resident. The country is largely run on with the same traditional methods their ancestors have used for generations–except for some slight modern twists. During Monsoon periods, boats take over the water in favor of roads and cars. Village school children get to classes in “toy cars” as they’re affectionately called, little colorful motorized vehicles called “Senjes” and “Tom toms”. Food is brought to your front doorstep in food carts loaded with fresh goods as motorcycles whizz by through the narrow streets. Brides deck themselves out and board dazzling“Wedding Rickshaws” where they are paraded and admired around town for everyone to see. Bangladesh has found its own unique way to get around, while showcasing its cultural landscape in the process.
